You wonder why it should be a surprise ?????
Toxic forever chemicals and substances are washing up on our beaches, and the foam is blowing in the wind.

Lipophilic toxic forever chemicals and substances such as ‘pfos’ / ‘pfas ‘ get trapped in the SML layer (surface micro layer) of the ocean, where they mix with a complex mixture of oils and surfactants. Wave action at sea and along the shore can generate a foam from this toxic chemical layer which covers the entire ocean and 71% of the planet.
The water industry says that the solution to pollution is dilution, but this does not apply for lipophilic oil-based chemicals and substances, which float or get trapped in this micro-layer. To put this into perspective, 250 thousand tonnes of a chemical would cover the world’s oceans with a 1-micron-thick layer. The world manufactures 3 million tonnes a year of lipophilic persistent toxic forever organic chemical pollutants and a million tonnes of toxic forever plastic, such as PFOS/PFAS, which will eventually end up concentrated in the world’s oceans’ SML layer.
Why it should be a surprise that it ends up as foam on beaches should not be a surprise. There is currently no monitoring program to measure the concentration in the atmosphere. However, the SML layer forms an aerosol; this aerosol travels up into the atmosphere where it condenses water vapour to form clouds and rain. 80% of all rainwater falling back to the earth is derived from the world’s oceans SML, and every litre of rainwater falling everywhere contains at least 5 particles of toxic substances with adsorbed toxic forever chemicals, herbicides, pesticides and even pharmaceuticals.
Chemicals from the rainwater end up in all drinking water and food and all living organisms. It is, therefore, not a surprise that 80% of all insects and soil biota have been destroyed over the last 50 years.
The pollution is responsible for 1 in 6 of all human deaths and probably predisposes a much higher percentage to cancer and other serious conditions. https://lnkd.in/eXuQ6Gfr.
The destruction the chemicals inflict on the marine ecosystem is catastrophic with regard to plankton and the life support system for the planet. https://lnkd.in/ev6_2cXN
We are all paying for the cost of an unsustainable lifestyle with disease and deaths; it doesn’t need to be this way. Countries are now banning their manufacture and importation of PFOS, but here are 15,000 other substances and chemicals that are not even on the radar.
