Drinking Water

80% of drinking water supplies in Europe contain microplastics. The microplastics act as magnets and attract priority chemicals and pharmaceuticals and amplify their concentration by more than a million times. Most of our drinking water is treated by sand filters and they can not remove plastic. We have confirmed that AFM can remove 6 um acrylic plastic beads with an efficiency of >99.5% at a water flow of 10m/hr. It is definitely time for change and for the water industry to recognise innovation and new technology.
