This is seriously bad news; everything is about to changeā¦
A deep ocean western boundary current (DWBC) in the Southern Ocean overturns and reverses direction for the first time, as indicated by an increase in salinity.

The film The Day After Tomorrow was about the Gulf Stream, or AMOC, stopping, and indeed it has slowed down by around 15%. While attention has been focused on the North Atlantic, there has been a collapse and reversal of the Deep Western Boundary Current (DWBC) in the South Atlantic.
The deep ocean current that helps drive SMOC (shallow or southern meridional overturning circulation) is responsible for bringing cold, nutrient-rich water up from the ocean floor and drives planetary heat distribution. The current is also linked to and drives AMOC and, indirectly, the Gulf Stream.
It was considered that the Gulf Stream could stop by the end of the century, but other studies have suggested that it may be as soon as next year.

The new information about the reversal of DWBC and the implications for SMOC indicates that a collapse of AMOC could happen next year or over the next 20 years.
So, heat energy distribution around the globe is going to be seriously impacted, carbon dioxide and methane levels are going to go through the roof, and the nutrient stream that drives marine life is being cut off, and this will all start to happen now!!!
Can anyone predict what’s going to happen???
Whatever transpires over the next few years, it is unlikely to be good.
