SCOPE AND APPLICATION
The Goes Foundation understands the importance of our users’ privacy. This Privacy Policy describes the treatment of information we collect from and about you when you visit our website or use our services that contain a link to, or otherwise reference, this Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Services”). The Privacy Policy also describes how we use, share, and protect your information; and what choices you have about how your information is used.
The Goes Foundation Services are intended for general audiences and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect, use or disclose personal information about users under age 13.
For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “personal information” means information that identifies a specific person, such as a full name, telephone number, email address or physical mailing address.
COLLECTION OF INFORMATION
Information you provide to us
When you choose to make use of some features of the Services, such as making donations, commenting on our blog, or contacting us via email, we collect information, including personal information, that you may provide while using those features, including your email address, name, physical address, city, state, and the like.
Information you provide to a Giving Platform
There are a variety of third-party giving platforms that allow you to donate funds to the Goes Foundation. If you make a donation through such a platform, you should review that platform’s terms and privacy policy to understand their privacy practices, including what information they collect from you and how they share it. Third party giving platforms may disclose a variety of information to The Goes Foundation when you make a donation, including your name, address, phone number, email address, donation amount, reason for donating, and payment information. Personal information we collect from such platforms will be used in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Information Collected Automatically
In addition to information you choose to provide to us, The Goes Foundation and our service providers also use standard technologies to automatically collect certain additional information. For example:
- IP Address and Other Identifiers. When you access and interact with our Services, The Goes Foundation and our service providers may collect information about your visit in order to permit you to connect to and obtain the Services and to understand the frequency with which specific visitors visit various parts of our Services. For example, we may collect your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, which identifies the computer or service provider that you use to access the Services, or information about your browser type, authentication identifiers, and other software and hardware information. If you access the Services through a mobile or other similar device, we may collect your mobile device identifier, geolocation data (including your precise location), or other transactional information for that device.
- Social Media Information and Content. The Goes Foundation maintains a social media presence on platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. These platforms may collect information about you, through advertising on our Services (e.g., “like” buttons), and through the platforms themselves (for example, when you comment on a social media post). Your participation on social media platforms is optional, and subject to those platforms’ privacy policies. We may collect information and content that you have permitted social media platforms to share with us – such as your profile picture, email address, or friends lists -– and any information you have made public in connection with that social media service.
- Cookies. The Services, and our advertisers and third-party service providers, may also use cookies. Cookies are small text files that are stored on a user’s computer and allow websites to remember information about users. We and our service providers use cookies for a variety of purposes in order to enhance the quality of our sites. Cookies may be transient (also called “session ID”) cookies, to provide continuity from page to page, or persistent, which enable parts of our site to recognize your browser when you return after your first visit to that part of our Services. You have the choice to set your browser to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set (each browser is different, so check the “Help” menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences.) It is up to you whether to allow us to send you cookies. However, if you do not accept cookies from us, your ability to use some aspects of our Services may be limited.
- Web beacons and other tracking technologies. The Services, and our advertisers, and third-party service providers, may use other tracking tools, including so-called “pixel tags,” “web beacons,” “web bugs,” “clear GIFs,” etc. (collectively “Web Beacons”) to collect user activity information about your activities on the Services. These are small electronic images embedded in web content (including online ads) and email messages and are ordinarily not visible to users. Like cookies, Web Beacons enable us and our service providers to track pages and content (including ads) accessed and viewed by users. Also, when we send HTML-formatted (as opposed to plain text) emails to you, Web Beacons may be embedded in such emails to allow us to monitor readership levels so that we can identify aggregate trends and individual usage to provide our audiences with more relevant content or offers. Web Beacons in emails may recognize activities such as when an email was opened, how many times an email was forwarded, which links in the email were clicked, etc. Web Beacons cannot be declined when delivered via a regular web page. However, Web Beacons can be refused when delivered via email. If you do not wish to receive Web Beacons via email, you will need to disable HTML images or refuse HTML (select Text only) emails via your email software.

For example, we may engage such service providers to provide marketing, communications, website hosting, infrastructure and IT services, to personalize and optimize the Services, process donations, provide customer service, collect debts, and analyse and enhance data. In the course of providing such services to us, these other companies may have access to information about you, including personal information. We do not authorize these companies to use or disclose your personal information, except in connection with providing the services we request from them.
One of our service providers is Google Analytics, which collects information such as how often users visit this site, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this site. We also use analytics providers for social media analysis, and in connection with understanding how users interact with our emails, including our newsletter.
Another category of service providers is payment processors. For example, if you choose to make a donation through the Goes Foundation Services, you may do so via PayPal. Paypal provides certain information to the Foundation concerning your donation, including your full name, billing address and zip, email address, and donation amount. Donor information will be governed by this Privacy Policy and our Donor Privacy Policy. Information that you provide to a payment service like PayPal will be subject to the payment service’s privacy policy,. We have no control over, and are not responsible for, any payment service’s use of information it collects. For more information on how PayPal handles your personal information, including your payment information, you can review its policies online at https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/ua/privacy-full.
Information Contained in User Content
Some parts of our Services may allow users to post or transmit messages, comments, screen names, computer files, and other materials. If you choose to make personal information public through these Services, Mission Blue will consider that information public and will not limit its use or disclosure in the manner described in this Privacy Policy.
Do Not Track Signals

However, no method of transmitting or storing electronic data is ever completely secure, and therefore we cannot warrant or guarantee that such information will never be accessed, used, or released in a manner that is inconsistent with this Privacy Policy.
